Lord, I'm grateful for the grace
Which had been given me,
The morning of the accident
When Shawn lost both his feet!
For the strength which held me fast
Causing me to stand,
Not drifting off in fantasy
I know you held my hand!
And for the undeniable peace
That flooded through my soul,
Just knowing You would walk before
Wherever we would go!
Thank You for the words that came
When I, myself knew none,
And for the faith within my heart,
That Your Will would be done!
Thank You for the people,
Who You brought to give support!
And especially for miracles,
Of which we give report!
For that determination
I had seen in my son's eyes,
That someday soon, he'd walk again,
Under glorious sunny skies!
Lord I am so grateful,
For the promise You gave me,
That though, bound on Earth,
Would someday Your promise keep.
You have blessed my heart
And let me see and know,
That when he got to Heaven,
His joy did surely show!
For he not only walks,
Under sunny glorious skies.
You have let me know,
He not only walks, but now he flies!
Though it broke my heart,
When he left this place,
I had to come to see,
He had already run this race!
Thank You for showing me,
You loved him even more,
Than I ever could,
For his life You have restored!
With You, now he has joy,
And suffers no more pain.
He survived for 18 years,
But now he lives right where You reign!
One day he will be waiting,
When time for me has come,
I'll cross the River Jordan,
And he'll be the first of my loved ones!
